Don S. Rushing

After receiving his law degree from the University of South Carolina, Don joined the law firm of Williams & Parler in Lancaster, South Carolina, in general practice. In 1971 the firm became Williams & Rushing, and in 1972, the firm became Rushing & Goldsmith.

In 1974 Don became the first Assistant Solicitor for the Sixth Judicial Court, prosecuting criminal cases in Lancaster, Chester and Fairfield Counties. In 1977, the firm merged with another and became Thomas, Rushing, Goldsmith & Folks, P.A., in which he performed principally all the firm's civil and criminal trial litigation in the State and Federal Courts.

In 1979 Don was elected to the South Carolina Senate, serving until 1984 when he was elected to the Circuit Court Bench. In 1997, he retired from the Circuit Court Bench and return to the practice of law with his daughter (Elizabeth R. Griffith) and son-in-law (Eugene C. Griffith), with offices in Lancaster and Newberry Counties. Don has lectured on various topics at seminars produced by both the Continuing Legal Education Division of the South Carolina Bar and formerly the Judicial Continuing Legal Education Division.

Don presently practices in personal injury cases and white collar crime defense, serves as a Special Referee in complex litigation cases, and as a mediator and arbitrator. He has received an AV rating from Matindale-Hubbell, its highest rating.
